Big .zip files will not download

Hi,

Thank you for an excellent product. I have no issues with .zip files under 300 MB: they are okay for download through the plugin. However, anything larger (around 1 GB) will not download.
Instead of the .zip file I have uploaded, something like “?smd_process_download=1&download_id=1234?” will appear for download with the options Open, Save, Save As. When downloaded, it does not include the .zip file and it can’t be opened with any software application. How is this fixed? Is this a bug of the plugin, or is there no option to handle bigger files? Thank you so much.

If you are using PHP Dispatch option for the download, your server’s PHP RAM memory comes into play (because the download is streamed by the PHP).

So first qusetion is, are you using the PHP Dispatch or the secure download option for this download item?

Try unchecking the PHP Dispatch option and you should be good.

This is also when the amazon s3 integration can come in handy. You can upload the larges files to s3 (instead of your server that can’t handle it). Then the following addon will take care of the download from your s3 account
