I am just a small-time, non-technical website admin for my community. I be been using Simple Download Monitor for a couple of years with great success. I have a number of documents on my site that require password protection. It has worked flawlessly until I did the last update and now the password protection no longer brings up the document when the password is entered. When I remove the password protection and make the document public, it works fine. I have tried re-uploading the document and changing the password to no avail. Any thoughts as to why this might not be working properly? The only other change to my website was acquiring and SSL certificate. Not sure if this would have an effect. Would appreciate any guidance you may have for me. Thanks.

I have tested the latest version and this feature on my own site and this is working fine. It seems that something is going wrong on your site specifically.
Please create an entire new download then add your download to that and then try and password protect it. Then does it work correctly?

November 2, 2018 at 5:47 pm #827AKSinPAParticipantI executed the steps as you suggested. I even created a new page but was still having the problem. After much troubleshooting, I realized that it was the “Download Now” button. When I keyed in the password and hit the “Download Now” button, nothing would happen. If I type in the password and press “Enter”, voila! I get the download. This seemed to ‘fix’ all my documents.
Not sure if this problem is because of something on my end but thought I’d pass along my findings so that you could test. Thank so much for your response.November 3, 2018 at 12:05 pm #829adminKeymasterYou should be able to enter the password then click on the button too. I just tested it and it works. There maybe a JavaScript conflict with another plugin on your site.
November 4, 2018 at 9:49 pm #831simrabParticipantHi,
I’ve the same problem, too. Hitting ‘Enter’ on keyboard works but a mouseclick on the button isn’t working.
As you wrote about JS conflicts with other plugins, I’ve disabled any other 3rd party plugins and it’s still not working.
You can see it here: leanprocon.de/sdm_downloads/checkliste-infrastruktur/ (Sry, page content isn’t styled yet). You can try any password. If the form works correctly, the message for wrong password appears by hitting ‘Enter’. Nothings happens using a mouseclick.
Thanks 🙂
November 6, 2018 at 2:36 am #835adminKeymasterI just tested your page using Google Chrome and Firefox. The mouse click worked fine for me for those browsers. Maybe there is a browser specific issue. Which browser are you using?
November 7, 2018 at 5:10 pm #837AKSinPAParticipantI have recruited another tester using Safari and Firefox without the issue. Download Now button works fine. I am still having the issue with Chrome but assume it’s a browser setting issue. The only thing that changed was my site got an SSL certificate and my hosting company applied it…don’t know if that could have had any affect. Thankfully, I haven’t had any user complaints with the same issue. Thanks for helping.
